New Zealand Cricket has added two experienced former internationals to the White Ferns coaching staff for the forthcoming three-match T20I series in Australia. Martin Guptill and Andre Adams have been named as support staff, with interim head coach Dean Brownlie, as the group prepares to fly for Australia on October 12.
Brownlie, a former New Zealand men’s top-order batter, was named interim head coach when Ben Sawyer stepped down in September following a review of the women’s high-performance organization. His appointment is limited to three T20I matches in Australia.
What experience do Guptill and Adams offer to the White Ferns’ setup?
From 2009 to 2022, Guptill made 367 international appearances for New Zealand in all formats, making him one of the country’s most experienced players. His depth of experience in batting and fielding at the top levels underscores his participation in the coaching group.
From 2001 to 2007, Adams played 47 ODIs for New Zealand, largely as a medium-pace bowling allrounder. He has previously toured with the White Ferns in 2017 and 2023. His most recent coaching assignment was with Birmingham Phoenix in the Women’s Hundred, giving him current exposure to elite women’s cricket.
