Ravindra Jadeja isn’t very active on X. Nonetheless, the India all-rounder made a rare appearance on the platform on Wednesday, when the BCCI welcomed applications for the vacant chairman of selectors role.

Following the end of Ajit Agarkar’s time as chairman of the men’s selection committee, the BCCI launched the application process. In response to the board’s post, Ravindra Jadeja simply enquired, “What is the procedure?”

Jadeja’s curt comment came soon after the BCCI announced Agarkar’s departure. The all-rounder rarely interacts with X, so his response stands out. His previous activity on the platform occurred on February 19, when he responded to former India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin’s remark about Nepal cricket.

Agarkar’s tenure officially expired on October 4, and former India spinner Pragyan Ojha is now the interim chairman of the men’s selection committee. The other members of the panel are Shiv Sundar Das, Ajay Ratra, and RP Singh.

Gautam Gambhir paid respect to Ajit Agarkar.

Jadeja’s reply occurred on the same day that India’s head coach, Gautam Gambhir, paid tribute to Agarkar following his departure from the selection committee.

Gambhir praised Agarkar’s commitment to putting the team first and credited him with contributing to India’s recent victories.

During Agarkar’s tenure as chairman, Indian cricket experienced a time of great success. India won the 2024 T20 World Cup, the 2025 Champions Trophy, and the 2026 T20 World Cup under his reign.

Ravindra Jadeja eligibility for the selector position

Despite his snarky remark, Ravindra Jadeja is not currently qualified for the selector position. BCCI guidelines require applicants to have retired from cricket at least five years ago. Ravindra Jadeja withdrew from Twenty20 International cricket in 2024, but he is still an active Test and One-Day International player who plays in the Indian Premier League, putting him outside the eligibility window for the post.
