Shreyas Iyer struck an unbroken 102 off 43 balls in the first T20I against the West Indies at Lucknow’s Ekana Cricket Stadium on October 6, 2026, to record his first T20I century. India chased down a target of 172 in 14.4 overs, winning by eight wickets with 32 balls remaining.
India was reduced to 35 for 2 after losing Abhishek Sharma for 21 and Sanju Samson for 11 in the first few overs. Shreyas Iyer then joined Ishan Kishan, and the two formed an unbroken 137-run third-wicket partnership to win the match. Kishan finished with 37 not out from 27 balls. West Indies scored 171 and were knocked out in 19.1 overs.
Iyer entered the series under scrutiny, having gone without a half-century in his previous ten T20I matches. His century on Tuesday effectively silenced those questions. The score was also the fastest T20I century by an Indian hitter against the West Indies.
