Mohammed Shami is not among India’s teams for the upcoming visit of New Zealand. India’s T20I team was revealed on October 6, followed by the ODI and Test teams on October 16. Mohammed Shami did not appear in any of the three. The tour kicks off on October 22 with five Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is). Five ODIs follow on November 4, with two Tests beginning on November 19.
Mohammed Shami‘s most recent Test match came in the World Test Championship final in June 2023, and he has not represented his country since the Champions Trophy final in March 2025. Despite his recent domestic success, selectors and team management are allegedly concerned about his fitness and ability to bowl over extended periods of time. The selection committee, led by Pragyan Ojha since Ajit Agarkar’s departure earlier this month, has targeted younger fast bowlers for the tour. Mohammed Shami remains committed to delivering his best effort in every game.
